Sunday 5 June

Canon Christopher Burke

10 days of prayer……..

As the disciples waited for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost following Christ’s ascension into heaven there must have been a great focus on prayer, expectation and getting ready. Echoing some of the themes we pick up in Advent.

So it is good that as a diocese and as communities of Christians across our city and region we are having 10 days of prayer and reflection. Asking again for God to show us the way; to equip us and to empower us as we look forward to renewing our commitment to our common life together and the vocation to mission and engagement we share.

I hope that you will feel able to join us for prayer during those 10 days. You will be very welcome at any of the usual services here and especially at noon when the Cathedral will fall silent for a brief time of prayer developing the theme of these 10 days. Even if you can’t be here I hope you will feel able to join with us in a renewed commitment to prayer each day.

Let us pray for grace as we wait before God together.
